
ITALY AND SLOVENIA JEWISH TOUR
DAY 1-Venice Airport-Ljubljana
In the morning arrival to Venice airport and meet with coach.
Transfer to Ljubljana for afternoon sightseeing including the Triple bridge, Preseren and Congress square, Dragon and Butcher bridge, Cathedral of St. Nicholas, Town hall, Jewish street and Jewish line.
Check in at hotel and overnight in Ljubljana.
DAY 2- Ljubljana-Plitvice Lakes National Park- Ljubljana
Breakfast at hotel.
Proceed to Plitvice Lakes National Park (Croatia) to admire the beauty of the lakes, listed in Unesco world heritage register since 1979.
Transfer back to Ljubljana for overnight.
DAY 3-Ljubljana- Bled-Postojna Cave-Piran- Portorose- Ljubljana
Breakfast at hotel.
Transfer to Lake Bled to take pletna boat to the island and visit the Church of St. Mary to ring the wishing bell.
Proceed to Postojna for cave sightseeing. Postojna cave is the best-known cave in the world and one of the world’s largest karst monuments.
Driving towards slovenian coastal town Piran that is also called Venice of the East. Sightseeing of the city including visiting the newly discovered Jewish “kare”.
Transfer through Portorose, major seaside resort in the country.
Continuing towards Ljubljana for overnight.
DAY 4-Ljubljana- Triest- Venice
After breakfast proceed to Triest for city sightseeing. We suggest to visit some museums ( The Revoltella Museum, Museo del Mare), Castle with basilica of San Giusto and enjoy a visit of old and interesting jewish history in the city (The museum of the jewish community of Triest “Carlo e Vera Wagner”, The old Cemetery and Synagogue – entrances depends on what day you will visit it, controlled by a Jewish community).
On the way to Venice stop at Miramare castle for a visit.
Check in at the hotel and overnight in Venice.
DAY 5- Venice- Venice Airport
After breakfast transfer to the airport for flight back home.
* If time permits we suggest to visit the city of Venice, that is truly unique. Start at the famous St. Mark’s Square, continue with Bridge of Sighs, Doge’s Palace, St. Mark’s Basilica, Rialto Bridge, Campanile and take a tour with Gondola along the Grand Canal. By exploring the famous Jewish Ghetto you’ll learn how the Jewish community lived here over the centuries and what role they played in the history of Venice. Entrances to the Jewish museum and synagogues are not guaranteed as they are strictly controlled by the Jewish community.
